The Film

Stories of unexpected interactions and awkward moments, Bathroom Privileges is a short animated documentary looking at some of the difficulties people face accessing public bathrooms. Through a series of recorded interviews with contributors Emma, Ben and Kemi, the public bathroom becomes a lens through which to view the experiences and testimonies of marginalised communities interacting with the wider world, touching on issues of race, disability and gender nonconforming identities.

In a world that prizes fitting in, not being accepted by wider society, being told you are not welcome or do not belong can take it’s toll, restricting which spaces our contributors access and forcing them to deal with harassment in the most intimate of spaces.
